Loera Reaches 50 Aces Milestone as WTC Battles Ranked NMMI
Snyder, TX – The #14-ranked New Mexico Military Institute proved too much for the Lady Westerners on Wednesday night, defeating Western Texas College 3–0 (17–25, 10–25, 20–25).
Set One:
Sydney Roberts opened the match with back-to-back aces, marking her 50th of the season — a milestone not reached since the 2015 campaign. The Lady Westerners maintained a three-point lead early on before the Broncos tied things up at 10–10. Following the first timeout, NMMI pulled ahead 17–14 and closed out the set 25–17.
Set Two:
The Broncos came out strong, jumping to a 9–2 lead and never looking back. Despite the Lady Westerners' efforts, NMMI controlled the pace and took the set 25–10.
Set Three:
Western Texas battled throughout the third, keeping within striking distance at 12–9 before a timeout at 18–15. The Broncos held their composure and sealed the match with a 25–20 win.
The Lady Westerners will now prepare for their final road match of the 2025 season as they travel to Odessa College on October 25 at 2 p.m.
