Jacksonville, TX – Despite dominating the match with a season-high 40 shots, including nine from forward Kaitlyn Lucy Crouch and seven from Rosa Emma Ortega, the Lady Westerners fell 1-0 to Jacksonville College on Tuesday in their third straight road contest.
Western Texas controlled possession throughout, outshooting the Jaguars 40-8 and placing 21 shots on goal. Ortega and Crouch consistently pressured the defense, while goalkeeper Karmen Coronado recorded three saves in the match.
Jacksonville's lone goal came in the 38th minute.
The Lady Westerners surpassed their previous single-game record of 27 shots, set earlier this season on September 1.
WTC returns home to Weaver Field on Tuesday, September 16, for its conference home opener against Cisco College. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m. in Snyder.
