Clarendon, TX – The Western Texas College Lady Westerners softball team (30-22, 13-9) traveled to Clarendon College for a four-game series, opening with a pair of dominant wins over the Bulldogs, 11-4 and 17-6.
Game One
A four-run third inning powered the Lady Westerners to an 11-4 victory. With the bases loaded, a two-RBI single sparked the rally, followed by a groundout and another single to give Western Texas a 4-1 lead.
The Lady Westerners continued to build momentum, adding two runs in the fifth inning to extend the lead to 6-2 before breaking the game open with a five-run sixth inning.
Madison Roberts went the distance in the circle, pitching all seven innings while allowing four earned runs and striking out six.
Game Two
Janie Rodriguez led the offensive explosion, driving in four runs on three hits in a 17-6 win. Rodriguez blasted a three-run home run to left field in the second inning, then added RBI singles in the third and fourth.
Western Texas broke the game open with a nine-run fourth inning. Key contributors included Karissa Juarez, Laney Vasquez, Anely Paz, Ava Ramriez, and Briyana Medina, all driving in runs during the inning.
The Lady Westerners set the tone early in the second inning when Medina doubled in a run, followed by Rodriguez's three-run homer. They continued to add on in the third with timely hitting and capitalizing on a Clarendon error.
