El Paso, TX – The Lady Westerners (22-22, 5-9) picked up a pair of wins Friday afternoon, sweeping a doubleheader against El Paso Community College with scores of 17-0 and 4-1.
Game One
An explosive eight-run second inning powered the Lady Westerners to a dominant 17-0 victory in game one.
Bryiana Medina delivered a standout performance, blasting three home runs and driving in seven RBIs. Karissa Juarez got the scoring started with an RBI single in the first inning.
The Westerners broke the game open in the second, scoring eight runs on five hits. Olivia Marks doubled to drive in three runs, Honey Morales added an RBI single, Ava Ramriez singled in another run, and Medina capped the inning with a three-run homer to left.
Marks extended the lead to 10-0 with another RBI double in the third inning. Medina continued her big day with a solo home run in the fourth.
Western Texas College added six more runs in the fifth. Morales drove in a run on a groundout, Juarez doubled in two, and Medina launched her third home run of the game—a three-run shot to center.
Madison Roberts earned her third shutout of the season, allowing just two hits over five innings while striking out five and walking two.
Game Two
The Lady Westerners' bats cooled off in game two, but they still secured a 4-1 win.
In the second inning, Janie Rodriguez singled to center field, and Olivia Marks drew a walk—both driving in runs to give the Westerners an early lead.
Ithalia Ozuna led the way in the circle, tossing a complete game. She allowed five hits and one unearned run over seven innings while striking out three and walking one.
