Roberts Surpasses 20 Assists in Conference Home Opener
Snyder, TX – Behind a season-high tying 11 team blocks, a 13-kill performance from Anayah Sinclair, and 22 assists from Sydney Roberts, the opener was Wednesday night at the WTC Gymnasium.
Despite the effort, WTC came up short against rival Midland College in four sets, 25-11, 25-9, 25-9, 25-8.
Sinclair recorded her third double-digit kill match of the season, while Roberts surpassed the 20-assist mark for the second time this year. At the net, the Lady Westerners' 11 blocks tied their season best, led by Aubrie Frazier, Addyson Whitson, and Maja Ludyga, who combined for 13 block assists. Savhanna Thompson added five kills, three service aces, and eight digs, while Asli Cam chipped in with eight kills.
Defensively, Samantha Loera anchored the back row with 12 digs, supported by Thompson's eight. As a team, WTC posted 37 kills, 31 assists, seven service aces, and 50 digs while hitting .152.
The last time Western Texas held Midland under a .150 hitting percentage came on Sept. 20, 2023, in Snyder.
The Lady Westerners return to action Saturday, Sept. 20, when they travel to Borger, Texas, to face Frank Phillips College. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m. CDT.
