Snyder, TX – In a must-win Region V playoff qualifier, the Western Texas College Lady Westerners women's soccer team hosted Hill College Friday afternoon in a tense, win-or-go-home matchup. Despite outshooting Hill 19–6 and controlling much of the game's tempo, the Lady Westerners came up short, falling 1–0 after a late goal in the 85th minute ended their postseason hopes.
The two teams previously met in September in Fort Worth, battling to a 2–2 draw.
Emilia Alvarez tallied a team-high five shots, three of which were on target. Mikaela Penaherrera and Coral Castaneda.
The lone breakthrough came late in the second half when Hill's Nadia Bailey capitalized on a loose ball in the 85th minute.
Karmen Coronado collected five saves while keeping the match.
Despite dominating in total shots (19–6) and shots on goal (9–6), Western Texas could not convert its chances into goals.
The Lady Westerners will now turn their attention to their final match of the 2025 season on Tuesday, October 14, when they host Ranger College at Weaver Field in Snyder, Texas. The game is scheduled for 2:00 PM CDT and will serve as Sophomore Day.
