DODGE CITY, Kan. – First goals of the season from Coral Castaneda and Kaitlyn Lucy Crouch weren't enough as the Westerners dropped a 3-2 road match to Dodge City Community College on Saturday.
Castaneda's unassisted strike in the 38th minute tied the game at 1-1, and Crouch answered in the 72nd minute to keep Western Texas within striking distance.
The Westerners finished with eight total shots, five on goal, led by Castaneda and Crouch, with additional pressure from Magalie De Alba and Cayelyn Lee Nault.
In goal, Karmen Coronado made her first appearance of the season and collected seven saves.
Lady Westeners will move to 2-2-1 on the season and look to bounce back at Jacksonville College on Monday, September 9, with a kickoff at 1:00 p.m. in Jacksonville, Texas.
