Lady Westerners’ Second-Place in Plainview
Plainview, TX– The Lady Westerners wrapped up their fall season with a strong 2nd-place finish at the Chicken Express Classic hosted by Wayland Baptist University this past Monday and Tuesday. Western Texas College posted a team score 870 (294–277–295) over three rounds at the Par-71, 5,989-yard course. New Mexico Junior College claimed the team title with a score of 846 (274–277–295).
Caitlin Feeney surged four spots in the final round to place 2nd overall, totaling 211 (74–68–69). She recorded her first eagle of the season in Round 2 on Hole 11, a 463-yard Par 5, taking just three strokes. Feeney finished with seven birdies in the tournament and led the field on Par 5s at -5. She also tied for first in total pars with 39.
Wildah Jarestam followed closely, finishing tied for 5th with a 214 (73–67–74). She notched her first eagle of the season in Round 2 on Hole 12, a 380-yard Par 4. Jarestam added six birdies and ranked 2nd on Par 4s at -5 while also tying for first in total pars with 39.
Brooke Ahn placed 10th with a 222 (71–71–80). She opened the tournament with back-to-back birdies on Holes 1 and 2 and repeated the streak in Round 2 on Holes 13 and 14. Ahn recorded a season-high 12 birdies, finishing 2nd overall in total birdies, and played even par through the first two rounds.
Sienna Thumwood finished 12th with a 228 (79–72–77). She earned an eagle in Round 1 on Hole 17, a 360-yard Par 4, taking just two strokes. Thumwood added six birdies, marking her season high.
Lupita Barbosa followed with a 230 (76–70–84). She posted a -1 second round and collected a season-high seven birdies. Barbosa stayed even on Par 3s, placing her 2nd overall in Par-3 scoring.
Rounding out the lineup was Macey Punches with a 258 (87–86–85).
