Lady Westerners Take Third at Battling in the Desert
Hobbs, NM – The Lady Westerners finished 3rd out of 9 teams at the two-day Battling in the Desert tournament, hosted by the University of the Southwest at Rockwind Community Links. This marked their first three-round event of the season.
The course played at par 72 over 6,015 yards. As a team, WTC posted a total score of 936 (309-314-313), finishing third in par-3 scoring at +17 and third in total birdies with 20.
Wildah Jarestam led the way with a fifth-place overall finish, carding a 224 (70-78-76). She recorded a season-high seven birdies, including four in the opening round, and tied for third in the field with 33 pars. Caitlin Feeney placed 12th with a 229 (73-77-79). She was the tournament's best on par-3s at two-under, also shot two-under on par-5s, and added seven birdies of her own.
Lupita Barbosa placed 22nd with a 239 (81-79-79), while Sienna Thumwood finished 29th at 247 (88-80-79). Both Barbosa and Thumwood recorded three birdies apiece. Brooke Ahn rounded out the team scoring in 39th place with a 256 (85-88-83).
Competing as individuals, Khensani Mhotsha placed 28th with a 246 (81-81-84), highlighted by five birdies, three of them in the second round. Macey Punches finished 53rd with a 296 (102-100-94).
Next, the Lady Westerners will head to the Chicken Express Classic in Plainview, TX, on October 13–14.
