Snyder, TX – The Western Texas College women's basketball team opened the 2025–26 season at home Saturday but couldn't overcome a cold shooting night, falling 59–37 to Cisco College.
The Lady Westerners shot 24.1 percent (14–58) from the field and 17.2 percent (5–29) from beyond the arc, while Cisco connected on 35.6 percent (21–59). Both teams were even on the boards with 42 rebounds each.
Essania Landers led the Lady Westerners with 9 points, three steals, and 2 assists on 4-of-7 shooting. Kynli Hart added 6 points and 8 rebounds, while Kendall Carlock contributed 4 points and 7 boards. Off the bench, Katy Elder provided a spark with 8 points, including two three-pointers, and Jaci Wilson chipped in 4 points and 3 rebounds.
Despite the balanced rebounding effort, Western Texas struggled to convert inside, posting just 8 points in the paint to Cisco's 22. The Lady Wranglers also held a 27–16 edge in bench scoring and maintained control after pulling away late in the first half.
The Lady Westerners (0–1) will look to regroup as they continue non-conference play next week.
