IRA, TX – The Lady Westerners (18-18, 1-5) split their doubleheader Thursday afternoon against the Lady Plainsmen at Ira High School, falling just short in game one before bouncing back in dominant fashion to take game two.
Game One
Ithalia Ozuna got the Lady Westerners on the board in the bottom of the second inning with a two-RBI single, giving them an early 3-0 lead. They added another run in the third to extend the advantage to 4-0.
The Lady Plainsmen responded in the top of the fourth with a grand slam to take a 6-4 lead. They added another run in the fifth and one more in the seventh to go up 8-4.
The Lady Westerners mounted a late rally, scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh, but ultimately fell just short, 8-7.
Madison Roberts got the start in the circle, tossing 4.2 innings while allowing nine hits, seven runs (two earned), and striking out four.

Game Two
The Lady Westerners came out firing in game two, putting up nine runs in the first inning—more than enough to secure an 11-1 victory.
They finished with 13 hits in the game. Karissa Juarez led the way, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Janie Rodriguez and Olivia Marks each added three hits.

The Lady Westerners will return home to play on Friday, April 3rd at United Field in Snyder, Texas. First pitch is set for noon.
