Coach Stefan Campos begins his sixth year at Western Texas College as the assistant coach for the cross country and track and field teams. Campos is excited to continue to work alongside Coach James Williams and Coach Trinity Williams.

Coach Campos is excited to have two sophomores returning on the women’s cross country team. Shadae Findley and Samantha Guajardo were big parts of the women’s success last year when they placed 9th at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships. The men have five sophomores returning after their 11th place finish at the NJCAA Cross Country Nationals Championships.

Last season, the men’s and women’s cross country teams had their best team finish at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships. Coach Campos also helped coach Shadae Findley who finished 3rd in the 800m at Indoor Nationals and 2nd in the 800m at Outdoor Nationals.

During his second season assisting the cross country program, the men’s team made their first national appearance since 2012. In track, he helped coach two indoor school record holders and two outdoor school record holders.

Prior to Western Texas College, Campos was a graduate assistant at Tarleton State University under Head Coach Pat Ponder where he worked with the middle distance and long distance runners. During his time at Tarleton, Campos had the opportunity to work with the men’s and women’s cross country teams who placed 2nd and 1st at the Lone Star Conference Championships, respectively.

As a former cross country and track and field athlete at Tarleton State, Campos holds the indoor school record in the 1,000 meter run.

Campos, a graduate of Jourdanton High School, earned his undergraduate in business administration and master’s degree in Kinesiology from Tarleton.
