Snyder, TX — Western Texas College battled Hill College to a scoreless draw through double overtime before claiming a thrilling 5–4 victory in penalty kicks Wednesday afternoon, winning the NJCAA Region 5 Championship.
Pablo Lobon led the team with four shots, while Myles Taylor added three. Goalkeeper Brian Garcia was a standout, recording eight saves in 110 minutes of shutout play and making key stops in the shootout to keep WTC alive.
After a scoreless 110 minutes, the game was decided in penalty kicks. With the score tied 4–4, Taylor converted the decisive kick, sending the Westerners forward.
