Jacksonville, TX — Philipp Federer netted his second goal of the season off an assist from Myles Taylor. However, a late equalizer forced Western Texas College men's soccer to settle for a 1-1 draw with Jacksonville College on Tuesday afternoon.
The result moves the Westerners to 2-2-3 at the halfway point of their four-game road stretch.
The two teams last met in Snyder, Texas, in 2023, when the Westerners caged the Jaguars 3-1.
Western Texas struck first in the 12th minute as Federer buried his shot off Taylor's setup for the early lead. The Jaguars answered in the 83rd minute when Cesar Alejandro Chav scored unassisted to even the match.
The Westerners couldn't find the late winner despite creating more chances with a 13-10 shot advantage.
Christian Georgi led the attack with four shots, while Brian Garcia recorded two saves in goal.
The Westerners also finished with two season-low corner kicks.
Western Texas continues its road swing on Friday, September 12, when it travels to Brenham, Texas, to face Blinn College at 6:00 PM CDT.
