Homelius Back-to-Back 30s, Western Texas Wins in OT at Frank Phillips
Borger, TX — The rough road finally came to an end in overtime as Western Texas College (12–10, 4–4) pulled out a thrilling 79–75 OT victory over Frank Phillips College (9–13, 1–7) on Monday night. The win marked the Westerners' first road victory of the season and their first overtime win since February 13, 2017.
How We Got There
Frank Phillips jumped out early before Isak Homelius knocked down timely three-pointers to swing the momentum. Homelius was lights-out from deep, shooting 6-for-8 from beyond the arc and scoring 23 points in the first half, surpassing his previous career high of 20 points set against Midland College on Jan. 29, 2026. He finished the night with a season- and career-high 37 points.
The first half remained tight throughout, with Western Texas taking a slim 33–30 lead into the break.
The contest featured seven ties and four lead changes, setting the stage for a dramatic finish in regulation. Homelius attacked the rim for the game-tying layup with 26 seconds remaining to make it 70–70. Frank Phillips had a final look at the buzzer, but the shot missed, sending the game into overtime.
In the extra period, Western Texas made the key plays on both ends of the floor scoring inside, securing defensive stops, and closing the game at the free-throw line to seal the 79–75 victory.
