Jeffries Signs With University of Tulsa
December 1, 2016
Western Texas College sophomore forward DaQuan Jeffries recently signed a letter of intent with the University of Tulsa.
Jeffries, who played at Santa Fe (Okla.) High School, spent one year at Oral Roberts before transferring to Western Texas College. He is averaging 19.9 points, six rebounds and two steals per game this season.
"It was a dream to play back home where my parents and family will have an opportunity to watch me," Jeffries said. "Tulsa has a great coaching staff. I'm glad to get the decision out of the way. It has been a stress reliever."
WTC head coach Andre Owens said Jeffries has been a leader on and off the court.
"I have known him for three years and knew he wanted to play Division I basketball," Owens said. "He is a good example to his teammates because of his work ethic. He is showing them that hard work can help you play at a Division I or four-year school while playing at WTC."
Jeffries will have two years of eligibility at Tulsa.
"DaQuan has a great toughness and ruggedness to his game," Tulsa head coach Frank Haith said. "He is 6-foot-5, but he has a 7-foot wingspan. He is built to be a defensive game changer. He is also a fantastic athlete. With the way we like to play, getting out in transition and putting pressure on our opponents, DaQuan will have the opportunity to show his natural abilities on the basketball court."
