Snyder, TX – The Western Texas College baseball team (13-35, 10-20) dropped both games of Friday's doubleheader to Howard College, falling 17-5 and 12-2.
Game One
Howard came out swinging, launching a grand slam in the first inning to take an early 5-0 lead. The Hawks added two runs in the second and another in the third to extend the lead to 8-0.
Western Texas responded in the bottom of the fourth, plating five runs on three hits. Garrett Rester drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in a run, Luke Trager added a sacrifice fly, Franco Marquez delivered a two-run triple, and Anderson Berndt followed with an RBI single.
However, the Hawks answered back, scoring two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings before adding five more in the seventh to secure the 17-5 win.
Branden Brown started on the mound for the Westerners, allowing 10 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits over 4.1 innings, while striking out six and walking four.
Game Two
It was more of the same in game two, as Howard jumped out early with six runs in the first inning to take control.
The Westerners' offense struggled to find rhythm, finishing with just two hits. Their lone highlight came in the fourth inning when Sabastian Llamozas hit a two-run home run to left field.
Howard went on to claim the 12-2 victory.

The Westerners will travel to Big Spring, TX on Saturday to wrap up the series against Howard College. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
