The Western Texas College Westerners traveled to Waco, Texas, for a three-game showdown with the #5 McLennan Community College Highlanders on Thursday and Friday, February 26–27, 2026. Despite intense efforts on the mound, the Westerners were swept in the series.
Game 1: Western Texas 0, McLennan 3
Both teams opened the series with strong pitching performances, but McLennan managed to score first with a solo home run in the bottom of the third inning. Mitchell Britton took the mound for Western Texas, pitching 4 1/3 innings while allowing three runs on two hits, striking out three and walking six. Western Texas's number seven hitter, Easton Stewart, led the team at the plate with two hits in three at-bats.
Game 2: Western Texas 2, McLennan 10
The Highlanders' offense came alive early in game two. McLennan scored in the first inning following an error and a walk, then added two more runs in the second. In the sixth inning, the Highlanders scored five more runs on five hits. Cole Melton and Reagan Chomel combined to pitch five innings for Western Texas, allowing eight runs (six earned) on six hits. Stewart again led the team with two hits, while Dylan Malone and Franco Marquez each drove in a run.
Game 3: Western Texas 0, McLennan 10
McLennan secured the series with a seven-run second inning. Tanner Spruiell took the loss for Western Texas after allowing six runs on four hits in just 1 1/3 innings. Caven Fuentes led Western Texas with two hits, and the Westerners played error-free defensively, with Anderson Berndt handling six chances in the field.
